So Let The Rain Come Down…

its-gon-rain

lt hasn’t started storming yet, but the very credible threat is there. It’s just a matter of time at this point. Direct TV is starting to fail, and I don’t know how long I can count on Duke Energy, so here are a few quick hits.

The weird one out of these is K.C. & the Sunshine Band‘s Ain’t Nothing Wrong. Don’t front, K.C. Was and still is the shit. They’re much more than just That’s the Way (I Like It). They had plenty of hits, and were sampled over 180 times, including this one. I’ve heard this album plenty of times, and I just recently realized that Digable Planets used this in Where I’m From. Sometimes, I’m dense like that.

The rest of the songs should be just as easily recognized. If you can’t catch them, then welcome to the Osmium Club.

Beyond This World doesn’t count. I just included that cuz I just saw the video on TV. Probably haven’t heard this song in years, let alone seen the video. This song, this ALBUM, will always be the shit. I’m not going to go into my Jungle Brothers’ rant ( they were always about Afrocentrism and dance music). Just dig the song. It always come back to the Native Tongues

What You Trying To Build , A Clubhouse?

There’s nothing like waking up to the sound of your dog barking at something only he can here. And there is no treble in Ra; he’s all bass. He did wake me in time to escape the menance of the cat next door/truck starting/leaf falling. It’s cool though cuz its Friday, it’s my day off, and I ain’t got shit to do but get high. Puff, puff, give. Puffin’ these crates.

I’ll try to come up with a theme for the next post, but I really listen to records like my IPod. I’ll play an album until I’m inspired to listen to something else. So I might listen to the whole record or one side or the whole album. Anyway, I have Friday on my mind because I was listening to Roy Ayres Ubiquity, and in another accidental find, I caught a sampled guitar lick from Fuck tha Police. So playing six degrees: The Boogie BackFuck tha PoliceIce Cube, Friday. I can get to six if I go Ice Cube, who was in the remake of 21 Jump St., which she original starred Johnny Depp, who was in the original Friday the 13th movie with…Kevin Bacon. I sometimes have too much time on my hands.
