I Am the Lord of Edison, the Lord of Berliner…

Gods of-Music: Apollo, Hathor, Feitian, Saraswati

I’m trying my hand at restoring a turntable. A Dual 1019, it’s a tank of a turntable. I did a solid for some one and he hit me back wtih the Dual, for free. Granted, it needs work, but┬áthat’s going to be the fun of it. This is my virginal idea of fun, cuz I’ve never restored a turntable before. As long as I do it for fun, it should be cool.

Anyway, I was in the Salvation Army thrift store trying to find some idea of what I might put the Dual in/on  the cheap and I walked by bins of records. I straight forgot that they have albums. Most of them are BEAT: moldy, dusty and scratched to Hell, but if you soak them and scrub them, a lot of the times they turn out ok. At least for the money, which is usually a dollar or less. Well this day, they were half off: 50 cents. You know I have to look at that point. It takes time, you have to go through every album put out by Johnny Mathis, John Denver, Laurence Welk and Engelbert Humperdinck has ever put out. I was lucky though, someone who was into the same music as me must have given up their collection. I found stuff that I had been looking for and never seen out in the wild and stuff that was just too much to get when I saw them.

So I picked out 8 records. $4.00 for what I found was robbery, so I was straight. When I got up to the counter, she charged me $2.00, to which I think I mumbled “Are you sure?”. She said yes, I paid and jetted. Took them home to see how much Dawn I’d have to use and they were in good condition! VG++ to VG+ to those of you in the know. The covers were done on some of them, but that doesn’t bother me. I’m thinking they had to have belonged to the same person because of the condition and style of the music.

So the Record Gods have smiled upon me once again. They only ask of me to share what they have gifted. Prepare to receive the sacrament.
